5v5 Futsal Tournament Rules
General Information:
• Team Size: Each team will consist of 5 players on the field at a time, with up to 7 substitutes (total of 12 players per team).
• Game Duration: Each match will consist of two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime. There will be a running clock.
Time outs - Each team will have one time out per half (2 min time out)
• Substitutions: Substitutions are allowed on the fly (during the game), but the player entering the field must wait until the player leaving the field is off.
Game Play:
1. Kick-off: The game begins with a kick-off from the center spot. Teams switch sides at halftime.
2. Ball In/Out of Play:
• Sidelines: When the ball goes out of bounds along the sidelines, it is put back into play with a kick-in. No throw-ins.
• Endlines (Goals): When the ball crosses the goal line and no goal is scored:
• If last touched by the defending team, a corner kick is awarded.
• If last touched by the attacking team, a goalkeeper’s throw is awarded.
3. Goalkeeper Play:
• The goalkeeper may use hands only within the penalty area. After possession, they have 5 seconds to release the ball.
• The goalkeeper cannot throw the ball over the halfway line without it touching another player or the ground.
Fouls & Free Kicks:
1. Fouls:
• Direct Free Kicks: For actions like kicking, tripping, pushing, holding, or any dangerous play.
• Accumulated Fouls: Teams are allowed 5 team fouls per half. On the 6th foul, a penalty kick will be awarded to the opposing team (taken from the top of the penalty arc).
2. Yellow Cards: A yellow card may be issued for unsporting behavior. A player receiving a yellow card must leave the field for 2 minutes.
3. Red Cards: A red card results in the player’s immediate ejection from the game and they may not return.
Penalties:
1. Penalty Kicks: If a foul occurs within the penalty area, the opposing team is awarded a penalty kick taken from the penalty spot. The goalkeeper can only move once the ball is kicked.
2. Penalty Shootout (if tied after regulation): Each team will take 3 penalty kicks in a row, alternating shots. If the game is still tied, it will go to sudden death penalties.
Team Conduct:
1. Sportsmanship: All players, coaches, and spectators must show respect towards officials, opponents, and teammates. Any violence or disrespectful behavior will lead to expulsion from the tournament.
2. Coaches/Team Captains: Only the team captain or head coach may communicate with the referee.
Tournament Structure:
• Group Stage: Teams will be divided into groups, and each team will play every other team in their group once.
• Knockout Round: The top teams from each group advance to the semi-finals and finals.
• Seeding: Teams are seeded based on their points (3 points for a win, 1 for time, 0 for loss), with goal difference and goals scored used to break ties.

1. Head-to-Head Result

3. Goals Scored
4. Penalty Shootout (if needed)
